Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Little Deli by Wayne Thiebaud was sold in the 20th Century Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,380,000.00 (€ 4,081,632.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wayne Thiebaud - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Encased Cakes, which sold at auction in July last year for HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Little Deli von Wayne Thiebaud wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000.000,00 – 6.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.380.000,00 (€ 4.081.632,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Encased Cakes beobachtet, die im Juli letzten Jahres für HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84) versteigert wurde.
