Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Indian Mother by William Henry Dethlef Koerner was sold in the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in May 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 52,875.00 (€ 56,684.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Henry Dethlef Koerner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Posse, which sold at auction in October 2020 for USD 137,500.00 (€ 118,056.15).
