Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Gold Accumulation (1) by Yayoi Kusama was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in association with Yongle auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in December last year. The price achieved of HKD 9,930,000.00 (€ 1,189,966.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 8,000,000.00 – 12,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yayoi Kusama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).
