This artwork by Yayoi Kusama achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March this year. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Pumpkin TOWSSO sold for GBP 831,600 (€ 1,391,814) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300,000. Admittedly, works by Yayoi Kusama have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Interminable Net #4 in April 2019 with an auction result of HKD 62,433,000 (€ 7,106,694).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yayoi Kusama erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Pumpkin TOWSSO für GBP 831.600 (€ 1.391.814) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 300.000. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yayoi Kusama auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Interminable Net #4 im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 62.433.000 (€ 7.106.694).
