Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Phillips in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in association with Yongle, which included the work Red Shoe by Yayoi Kusama. It changed hands for a price of HKD 4,914,000.00 (€ 609,787.27) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yayoi Kusama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pumpkin in April this year with an auction result of HKD 30,000,000.00 (€ 30,635,869.57).
