Light is my story
A warm summer night, after a short rain shower the lights reflect even brighter in the darkness. What Angela Wichmann fascinates is the effect of light in its many facets, so that it has become the dominant theme in my works. She is constantly captivated by it in order to bring it to bear on the canvas - a challenge that I set myself anew with every picture. Her pictures mostly appear to lack visual acuity and are hardly clearly defined - the contours seem to blur. What they all have in common is the depth effect achieved through the spatial composition.
She is not a quick painter, she takes her time - let the picture work on her to see which colors and lighting correspond to her feelings. Every new work is an open experiment for her, a very personal journey.

In den Bildern von Angela Wichmann ist es oft tiefe Nacht und doch alles andere als dunkel. Tanzende Lichter, schimmernde Spiegelungen und funkelnde Reflexionen bestimmen den Schauplatz, erzählen ihre eigene Geschichte, machen die Leinwand zu ihrer Bühne und sich selbst zu den Protagonisten der Szenerie.
