Polymnia is a shadow sculpture inspired by the ancient Greek muse of sacred poetry and meditation. Constructed from wire, sheet metal and light, the work transforms chaotic metal forms into the silhouette of a silent female figure through illumination and perspective. Existing between sculpture and shadow, the piece reflects on memory, inner stillness and the hidden harmony emerging from disorder.
Inspired by the beauty of the Japanese cherry blossom, Akina celebrates the fleeting and delicate nature of life. The sculpture transforms branches and fabric into a graceful composition that casts the shadow of a woman, creating a dialogue between physical form and ephemeral image. Rooted in the symbolism of Sakura, the work reflects beauty, renewal, and the quiet poetry of passing moments.
Guernica
Inspired by Picasso’s iconic masterpiece, Guernica is reimagined through the language of light and shadow.
Rather than using paint and canvas, this artwork is constructed from carefully arranged metal elements that appear abstract and chaotic when viewed directly. Yet when illuminated, they transform into a precise shadow image, revealing the powerful composition of Guernica.
The work explores the relationship between reality and perception, order and chaos, matter and light. What seems fragmented and incomprehensible in physical form becomes meaningful through its shadow, reminding us that truth is often revealed from an unexpected perspective.
Created entirely by hand, this piece continues my artistic exploration of Shadow Art, where sculpture, light and illusion merge into a single experience.
