Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work An Arcadian Mountainous Landscape With A Milkmaid At The Edge Of A Stream Milking A Brown Cow, Sheep And Goats Grazing Nearby by Adriaen van de Velde for USD 13,750.00 (€ 9,264.87). This price was achieved in the auction Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adriaen van de Velde achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View from the Dunes out to Sea in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 562,500.00 (€ 659,647.88).
