Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Boars by Affandi was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 700,000.00 – 900,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 687,500.00 (€ 75,324.87). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Affandi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Borobudur And The Sun in October 2016 with an auction result of HKD 9,800,000.00 (€ 1,153,256.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Boars von Affandi im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 700.000,00 – 900.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 687.500,00 (€ 75.324,87) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Affandi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Borobudur And The Sun im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 9.800.000,00 (€ 1.153.256,70).
