Auction result well in line with expectations

The work A Pair of Portraits: Mr. Jeremiah Russell and Mrs. Elizabeth Moose Russell by Ammi Phillips was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 51,600.00 (€ 41,784.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ammi Phillips achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a Young Girl and her Cat in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,248,000.00 (€ 960,147.72).
