This artwork by Ansel Adams achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in February last year. In the A Grand Vision: The David H. Arrington Collection of Ansel Adams Photographs auction, the work Portfolio One sold for USD 113,400.00 (€ 101,033.50) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ansel Adams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 988,000.00 (€ 807,849.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ansel Adams erzielte im Februar letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion A Grand Vision: The David H. Arrington Collection of Ansel Adams Photographs wurde die Arbeit Portfolio One für USD 113.400,00 (€ 101.033,50) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ansel Adams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 988.000,00 (€ 807.849,55).
