In February last year Sothebys in New York held the auction A Grand Vision: The David H. Arrington Collection of Ansel Adams Photographs, which included the work Tree Detail (Birdwing Shape) by Ansel Adams. The »bidding war« ended at USD 37,800.00 (€ 33,677.83), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ansel Adams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 988,000.00 (€ 807,849.55).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen

Im Februar letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion A Grand Vision: The David H. Arrington Collection of Ansel Adams Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Tree Detail (Birdwing Shape) von Ansel Adams zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 37.800,00 (€ 33.677,83) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ansel Adams erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 988.000,00 (€ 807.849,55).
