Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Portrait of a woman, half-length, viewed from behind, her head in profile by Ambrose McEvoy. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,422.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ambrose McEvoy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Dorothy Duveen, Three-Quarter Length, Seated On A Red Chair in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,588.14).
