Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Oberlahnstein, on the Rhine by Arthur Joseph Meadows was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 750.00 (€ 934.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Joseph Meadows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Ducal Palace, Venice in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 16,730.00 (€ 25,877.52).

Die Arbeit Oberlahnstein, on the Rhine von Arthur Joseph Meadows kam im Mai 2012 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 750,00 (€ 934,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Joseph Meadows erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Ducal Palace, Venice im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.730,00 (€ 25.877,52).
