Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Portrait of General Lafayette (1757-1834), full-length, in a great coat over a stripped waistcoat, holding a hat and a stick by Ary Scheffer was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Christies in New York in October 2001. It changed hands for a price of USD 47,000.00 (€ 52,262.87) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ary Scheffer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait De George Washington, D'Après Gilbert Stuart in June 2010 with an auction result of EUR 265,000.00.

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit Portrait of General Lafayette (1757-1834), full-length, in a great coat over a stripped waistcoat, holding a hat and a stick von Ary Scheffer wurde im Oktober 2001 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 47.000,00 (€ 52.262,87) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ary Scheffer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait De George Washington, D'Après Gilbert Stuart im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 265.000,00.
