Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Animalgenic 1 by Christine Ay Tjoe was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2010, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 65,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at HKD 475,000.00 (€ 44,101.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christine Ay Tjoe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Layer As A Hiding Place in May last year with an auction result of HKD 13,050,000.00 (€ 1,549,315.07).
Kunstwerk zum Siebenfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Animalgenic 1 von Christine Ay Tjoe im Oktober 2010 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 65.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 475.000,00 (€ 44.101,77) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christine Ay Tjoe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Layer As A Hiding Place im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 13.050.000,00 (€ 1.549.315,07).
