Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Bird And Rock, Running Script Calligraphy by Bada Shanren was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2005, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 300,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 2,024,000.00 (€ 210,775.29). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bada Shanren achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album Of Natore in May 2016 with an auction result of HKD 76,910,000.00 (€ 8,889,373.15).
