Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saint John The Evangelist by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2016. The price achieved of GBP 150,000.00 (€ 175,374.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ the Man of Sorrows in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,587,969.60).

Die Arbeit Saint John The Evangelist von Bartolomé Esteban Murillo wurde im Dezember 2016 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 150.000,00 (€ 175.374,34) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bartolomé Esteban Murillo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christ the Man of Sorrows im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.472.000,00 (€ 3.587.969,60).
