Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Presentation Of The Virgin by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 586,000.00 (€ 657,034.85). Admittedly, works by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Christ the Man of Sorrows in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,587,969.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Presentation Of The Virgin von Bartolomé Esteban Murillo im Juli 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 586.000,00 (€ 657.034,85) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bartolomé Esteban Murillo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Christ the Man of Sorrows im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.472.000,00 (€ 3.587.969,60).
