In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction British Works on Paper, which included the work Discovering the bones of Sir Peter Halket by Benjamin West. The result of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,800.52) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin West achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 578,500.00 (€ 661,037.08).

Im November 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Discovering the bones of Sir Peter Halket von Benjamin West zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.800,52) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Benjamin West erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Prince William (1776-1834), Later 2Nd Duke Of Gloucester And Edinburgh, And His Elder Sister, Princess Sophia (1773-1844) Of Gloucester im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 578.500,00 (€ 661.037,08).
