Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sydney Harbour Bridge, 1977 by Brett Whiteley was sold in the Topographical Pictures with Australian Art auction at Christies in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,659.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brett Whiteley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 2,880,000.00 (€ 1,770,858.54).
