Artwork auctioned at 11 times the upper estimate price
When the work Portrait of Poetress Ho Xuan Huong by Bui Xuan Phai was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in June last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 25,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 11 times as high at HKD 280,200.00 (€ 34,098.27). Admittedly, works by Bui Xuan Phai have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Houses in May 2021 with an auction result of HKD 1,625,000.00 (€ 171,775.05).
Kunstwerk zum Elffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Portrait of Poetress Ho Xuan Huong von Bui Xuan Phai im Juni letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 25.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 280.200,00 (€ 34.098,27) mehr als elfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bui Xuan Phai auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Houses im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.625.000,00 (€ 171.775,05).
