Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sir John George Tollemache Sinclair, Bart., M.P. Politician and Poet by Carlo Pellegrini was sold in the JOHN FRANKS COLL. OF ORIGINAL WATERCOLOURS FOR VANITY FAIR auction at Christies in London in December 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 840.00 (€ 1,219.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Carlo Pellegrini have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Adelboden in January 2016 with an auction result of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,365.68).
