Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Narcissus by Chen Chun was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 25,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 98,500.00 (€ 76,617.92). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chen Chun achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers and Calligraphy in June this year with an auction result of HKD 28,810,000.00 (€ 3,366,443.22).
