Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Barbara Hepworth achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May last year. In the The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship auction, the work Corymb sold for GBP 189,000.00 (€ 222,340.51) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barbara Hepworth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Family of Man: Ancestor II in November this year with an auction result of USD 11,565,000.00 (€ 10,602,310.23).
