Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Waterfall at Bettws-y-Coed, North Wales by David Cox was sold in the Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art auction at Christies in London in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,048.00 (€ 7,170.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by David Cox have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rhyl Sands in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 43,020.00 (€ 67,367.10).
