In June 2014 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work A Fierce Engagement Between H.M.S. Penguin And The French Corvette Oiseau On 21St August 1797 by Derek George Montague Gardner. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 23,750.00 (€ 29,674.49), 32% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Derek George Montague Gardner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The 'Glorious First of June', 1794, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 50,900.00 (€ 73,095.75).

Im Juni 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Fierce Engagement Between H.M.S. Penguin And The French Corvette Oiseau On 21St August 1797 von Derek George Montague Gardner zur Versteigerung kam.
