This artwork by Derwent Lees achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2004. In the 20th Century British Art auction, the work Cumberland Hills sold for GBP 1,015.75 (€ 1,437.57) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Derwent Lees achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sandhills in October 2021 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 71,083.80).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Derwent Lees erzielte im Dezember 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century British Art wurde die Arbeit Cumberland Hills für GBP 1.015,75 (€ 1.437,57) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Derwent Lees erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sandhills im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 60.000,00 (€ 71.083,80).
