Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Édouard Cortès achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. In the European Paintings, Drawings & Sculptures auction, the work Rue Royale & La Madeleine sold for USD 52,920.00 (€ 45,436.59) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Édouard Cortès; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Boulevard in Montmartre, Paris sold at auction in November 2012 with the realized price of EUR 73,000.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Édouard Cortès erzielte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion European Paintings, Drawings & Sculptures wurde die Arbeit Rue Royale & La Madeleine für USD 52.920,00 (€ 45.436,59) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Édouard Cortès; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Boulevard in Montmartre, Paris im November 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 73.000,00.
