In July 2020 Bonhams in New York held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Place de la République by Édouard Cortès. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,075.00 (€ 21,296.93), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Édouard Cortès - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Boulevard in Montmartre, Paris, which sold at auction in November 2012 for EUR 73,000.00.

Im Juli 2020 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Place de la République von Édouard Cortès zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.075,00 (€ 21.296,93) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Édouard Cortès mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Boulevard in Montmartre, Paris beobachtet, die im November 2012 für EUR 73.000,00 versteigert wurde.
