Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Studies for Nighthawks: A Pair of Drawings by Edward Hopper. The price achieved of USD 352,000.00 (€ 285,043.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Hopper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chop Suey in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 91,875,000.00 (€ 81,140,157.20).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Studies for Nighthawks: A Pair of Drawings von Edward Hopper zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 352.000,00 (€ 285.043,32) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Hopper erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chop Suey im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 91.875.000,00 (€ 81.140.157,20).
