Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction The Curtis StudioImportant Photographs and Ephemera from a Distinguished Private Collection, which included the work Women Of The Desert, Navajo by Edward Sheriff Curtis. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,275.00 (€ 1,076.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Sheriff Curtis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The North American Indian, Portfolios 1-20; and Volumes 1-20 in October 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,416,000.00 (€ 1,180,491.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion The Curtis StudioImportant Photographs and Ephemera from a Distinguished Private Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Women Of The Desert, Navajo von Edward Sheriff Curtis zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.275,00 (€ 1.076,13) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Sheriff Curtis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The North American Indian, Portfolios 1-20; and Volumes 1-20 im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.416.000,00 (€ 1.180.491,87).
