Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French may I? by Émile Munier was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 98,500.00 (€ 79,666.77). Admittedly, works by Émile Munier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Sauvetage (The Rescue) in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 336,000.00 (€ 397,397.99).
