Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Cavalier by Ferdinand Roybet was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,313.00 (€ 3,373.76). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ferdinand Roybet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tambourine Girl in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 276,800.00 (€ 410,235.08).
