In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak auction, the work Mad Prophet in New York sold for USD 1,033,200.00 (€ 931,398.18) - well above the upper estimate of USD 500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Newton Souza - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Birth, which sold at auction in September 2015 for USD 4,085,000.00 (€ 3,659,738.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Francis Newton Souza erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak wurde die Arbeit Mad Prophet in New York für USD 1.033.200,00 (€ 931.398,18) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Francis Newton Souza mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Birth beobachtet, die im September 2015 für USD 4.085.000,00 (€ 3.659.738,40) versteigert wurde.
