Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The departure of Sir Hugh Willoughby to find a route via the North West Passage to the Spiceries in the reign of Edward VI sailing in the year 1553. by Frank Henry Mason was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,200.00 (€ 940.14). Admittedly, works by Frank Henry Mason have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A British squadron anchored in the Bosphorous at Constantinople in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 4,230.00 (€ 7,091.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The departure of Sir Hugh Willoughby to find a route via the North West Passage to the Spiceries in the reign of Edward VI sailing in the year 1553. von Frank Henry Mason im Juli 2006 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
