Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Buffalo Signal (If Skulls Could Speak) by Frederic Remington was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,910,000.00 (€ 2,498,497.47). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederic Remington - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Coming Through the Rye, which sold at auction in May 2017 for USD 11,223,500.00 (€ 9,988,875.04).
