This artwork by Gabriel-Jacques de Saint-Aubin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2010. In the Old Master & British Drawings auction, the work Portrait Of Michel-Jean Sedaine, Writing At His Desk sold for GBP 51,650.00 (€ 62,103.31) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gabriel-Jacques de Saint-Aubin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work L'Incendie De L'Hôtel-Dieu En 1772 in March 2016 with an auction result of EUR 373,500.00.
