Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings (Evening Sale), which included the work Wooded landscape with a lake, anglers in the foreground by George Barret. It changed hands for a price of GBP 229,250.00 (€ 274,559.26) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Barret - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 481,250.00 (€ 558,248.55).

Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings (Evening Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wooded landscape with a lake, anglers in the foreground von George Barret zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 229.250,00 (€ 274.559,26) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Barret mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge beobachtet, die im Dezember 2010 für GBP 481.250,00 (€ 558.248,55) versteigert wurde.
