Auction result well in line with expectations
The work May Blossom, Berries And A Bird'S Nest With Eggs, On A Mossy Bank; And Apple Blossom And A Bird'S Nest With Eggs, On A Mossy Bank by George Clare was sold in the British and Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in March 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,814.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Clare - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36).
