The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,700.00 (€ 5,226.29), 34% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Derville Rowlandson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work British The Liverpool Grand National At Aintree, which sold at auction in November 2007 for USD 20,000.00 (€ 13,616.56).
