Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds by George Edwards was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,684.09). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Edwards - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,541.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds von George Edwards im März 2010 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.684,09) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von George Edwards mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds beobachtet, die im Mai 2012 für GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.541,27) versteigert wurde.
