Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Viscount Gormanston'S White Dog by George Stubbs was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2010. The price achieved of GBP 361,250.00 (€ 419,048.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Stubbs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gimcrack on Newmarket Heath, with a trainer, a jockey and a stable lad in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 22,441,250.00 (€ 25,754,691.64).
