The »bidding war« ended at USD 119,500.00 (€ 102,937.38), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Giuseppe De Nittis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Italian l'Arc De Triomphe, Paris in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 624,923.87).

Die Arbeit Nude with red Stockings von Giuseppe De Nittis wurde im Oktober 2003 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 119.500,00 (€ 102.937,38) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giuseppe De Nittis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Italian l'Arc De Triomphe, Paris im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 548.750,00 (€ 624.923,87).
