In May last year Artcurial in Paris held the auction African Contemporary Art, which included the work Blue Smoke, 2021 by Godwin Champs Namuyimba. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 65,600.00 64% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Godwin Champs Namuyimba - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Connector, which sold at auction in November 2021 for HKD 1,323,000.00 (€ 147,104.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Artcurial in Paris die Auktion African Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Blue Smoke, 2021 von Godwin Champs Namuyimba zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 65.600,00 und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Godwin Champs Namuyimba mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Connector beobachtet, die im November 2021 für HKD 1.323.000,00 (€ 147.104,19) versteigert wurde.
