engraving, 1539, on laid paper, without watermark, a very good impression of Hollstein's third state (of six), with thread margins above, below and at right, trimmed on or just outside the platemark at left, a tiny paper loss at the upper left sheet edge, otherwise in very good condition

The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Recto: A Putto Standing Beside A Flaming Urn Verso: Four Studies Of Men'S Heads in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 48,000.00 (€ 71,291.08).

Die Arbeit Melencolia von Hans Sebald Beham kam im Januar 2017 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.547,71) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 53%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hans Sebald Beham erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Recto: A Putto Standing Beside A Flaming Urn Verso: Four Studies Of Men'S Heads im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 48.000,00 (€ 71.291,08).
