Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Finnish camellias by Helene Schjerfbeck was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in December 2017. The price achieved of GBP 249,000.00 (€ 280,213.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Helene Schjerfbeck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tanssiaiskengät; Balskorna (Dancing Shoes) in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 3,044,500.00 (€ 3,872,737.05).
