Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

The work Visage de femme (Lydia) by Henri Matisse was sold in the Matisse on Paper: Prints & Drawings from the Matisse Family Collections, Online auction at Christies in New York in February this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,769.10). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Die Arbeit Visage de femme (Lydia) von Henri Matisse wurde im Februar diesen Jahres in der Auktion Matisse on Paper: Prints & Drawings from the Matisse Family Collections, Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 25.200,00 (€ 23.769,10) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Matisse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Odalisque couchée aux magnolias im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.750.000,00 (€ 69.194.515,85).
