This artwork by Isidore-Jules Bonheur achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2005. In the Sporting Art auction, the work Le Grand Jockey sold for GBP 54,000.00 (€ 79,720.95) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 25,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Isidore-Jules Bonheur; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Steeplechase sold at auction in December 2005 with the realized price of USD 168,000.00 (€ 141,867.93).
