Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Getting the nets in before the squall by James Edwin Meadows was sold in the Maritime and Naval Battles auction at Christies in London in November 2000. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,642.21). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Edwin Meadows - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Homeward Bound, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,822.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Getting the nets in before the squall von James Edwin Meadows wurde im November 2000 in der Auktion Maritime and Naval Battles bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.642,21) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von James Edwin Meadows mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Homeward Bound beobachtet, die im Juli 2007 für GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.822,77) versteigert wurde.
